president monsoon brings the spirit like a tidal wave

Oct. 3, 2011

Hey,
wasn't conference awesome? It manages to get better and better every six months. I heard a lot of things I needed to hear and the Spirit was there. it was a great experience for some our investigators too. the man who comes to church each week in his wheel chair and has the smoking issue made it out to four of the sessions. After he told us that he wishes he went to the Priesthood Session too. He's told us before it's difficult for him to come out to church and sit in his wheel chair for all three hours because of his many health problems and pain, but he sat there for 8 hours this weekend just soaking it all up. When we spoke with him last night, he shared with us the things he's come to know and appreciate as he's met with us. He said he knows the Book of Mormon is the word of God (he's halfway though 3 Nephi on his CDs, planning to start them over once he's finished), he said he believes Joseph Smith was a prophet, and he believes Thomas S. Monson speaks with Jesus on a regular basis. He even said he felt strengthened by what President Monson and the other speakers said. He's becoming more and more converted to the gospel and a definite change has come over him. still has a little ways to go but he's working with the spirit and miracles follow his effort.

new transfer starts today. i'm staying in burton which is good with me. it's starting to get cold and this is a car area, that alone makes staying worth it. i think in my last letter i mentioned i was going to the leadership training last week. it was a cool experience, i hadn't been to one before. plus there was costco pizza. but i got the call from president last night about what leadership position i'll have this transfer, turns out i'm training. kind of crazy to be responsible for someone, especially when you're responsible for them in a place like flint, maybe i'm getting just a hint of what it must feel like to have a new baby. that's a weird connection. so ya, i'll be training this transfer.

thanks for being such a solid example to me before the mission and still. i couldn't have asked for a better family. well i hope everybody had a good week, i hope you guys had a great conference experience too. we're all entitled to it. the church leaders tell us exactly the things the lord knows we personally need in our lives. feast upon the words of christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do. love you guys.

much love,
elder lamb
